As per the U.S. Wall Ball Association, in the 1930s people visiting beaches hit a bald tennis ball against the edges of wooden jetties. This motivated the New York Parks Department to create community handball courts in town parks. Now, the game is a professional sport popularly known as Wall Ball and is played at athletic centers all over the nation. Dmitry Druzhinsky, co-founder of MatchPoint NYC, a premier health and fitness complex in Brooklyn, was recently joined by leading lawmakers for the Pro Wall Ball Tournament. The annual big competition known as “Battle of the Boroughs,” raises cognizance of public health and youth enablement. The victorious team was awarded a trophy and a year of bragging rights.
